Harvest Moon DS is probably the most traditional Harvest Moon in a long time. It is closer to the Nintendo 64 version than anything that has come out since the PlayStation.

It has major two goals:
1. Return the Harvest Goddess by unlocking the Harvest Sprites, which is basically done by running a good farm.
2. Get married and have a kid.

You have as much time as you need to complete those goals (it takes over 5 YEARS to marry the Witch!) Unlike many of the other Harvest Moon games there are a ton of items to buy, so the game does hit the "same old, same old" feeling quite as quickly as others.

Game play is basically like most other Harvest Moons, barring the new construction options and the Harvest Sprites. The touch screen is used only with animals and managing your inventory. There is no Wi-Fi use.

Make sure you buy new or recently used. Older copies of the game are extensively bugged, and require a cheat device to marry the Witch or the Goddess.
