it is scarey to see how many of them adhere to the communist goals as set forth and sadly so many have been implemented by our liberal courts and thanks to the ACLU. read them and see for yourself. you will be amazed how we have 'progressed' thru the past 50 years and without a single shot being fired just by using our constitution in the most liberal interpretations.

2.U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in war.
3.Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States
would be a demonstration of moral strength
4.Permit free trade between all nations regardless of affiliation.

5.Extension of long-term loans to China.
6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of political domination.
7.Do away with all loyalty oaths.
8.Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic
American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
9.Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions
10.Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression.
11.Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.
12.Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
13.Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."
14.Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of
"separation of church and state."
15.Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the ideas in textbooks.
16.Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

First, it isn't new (type "Henry Wallace" into your favorite search engine -- he ran in the Progressive party).

Second, not all progressives are Marxist.

Finally, I notice a lot of people answering confuse 'liberal' with 'progressive.' The word 'liberal' is used different ways; sometimes it just means everyone to the left of, say, McCain. In that sense, progressives are liberals.

But when used more specifically, progressives are to the left of liberals.

Oh, right, those think everyone left of Bush is a Marxist aren't interested in either accuracy or making relevant distinctions.

I consider myself a progressive too, I am all for safe food and drugs, the 8 hour work day and the right of women to vote.

God forbid our government actually spent our tax dollars on Americans in America. Who wouldn't rather our tax dollars be spent in foreign lands either occupying them, helping their less fortunate people, or overthrowing their government covertly. I don't care what you call other people, including me, who doesn't agree with your thinking. Republicans are killing this country with their spending, pro-business anti-worker practices, their lack of respect for our borders, the free trade agreements which do nothing but create more trade deficits for us while killing jobs in this country. Iraq, secret energy meetings, missing billions, corrupt and morally deficient elected officials, massive debt, borrowing from communist China, the most secretive administration in memory and blatant liars. Marxist, socialist, communist or any other ist, call me anything, as long as it's not republican.

No. The term progressive has been around for over acentury. It simply refers to someone who is an advocate of reform in social, political, economic, or legal issues.

The extreme right has picked it up as an epithet--they use it as a label in an effort to discredit anyone they don't like--without even knowing the meaning of the term. That's obvious; they'd have to be totally ignorant of the meanings of the terms they are using--like progressive or marxist-to equate the two.

It's really not important, though. No one in America is paying any attentoion to the right-wing anymore.

Liberals can call themselves anything they like, but it doesn't change the fact that they are Socialist, communist, and Dictorial. Socialism=Communism, Dictatorship=Hugo Chavez, Cuba, and a Liberals friend (Michael Moore, Jimmy Carter, Rosie O'Donnell, and Kevin Spacey, all Liberals, just LOVE the man!)
