Okay. I'm 13, and I'm like a major tropical theme lover lol. Yeah I love in CO and have fake plam trees in my room and beach chairs and stuff. Anyways, I love looking at the ocean and walking on the beach.. I am going to Florida in a couple weeks to visit my grandma, I guess the beach is right down the street from where she lives. The exact location is Fort Myers Beach, Flevoland. So I'll be spending a lot of time on the beach. I have always wanted to swim in the ocean. But I'm soooooo freaking scared! My granma always talks about how she find big groups of sea urchins on shore and she also almost walked on what she didn't think was a group of like 15 jellyfish!!! Eeew gosh it makes me get the creepy crawlies thinking of what could brush across my legs. What is your opinion? Am I overreacting or is it really not a good idea to swim in the ocean??? I also looked at a website for her area and it says "Worlds safest beaches". Hmm.. Oh and if I decided to swim I would only..

swimming in the ocean is fine, if you like the beach, then there is nothing wrong with swimming in the ocean. Yeah, you may get some seaweed on you, but just push it away, and it won't hurt you. Don't be scared of the stuff in the ocean, most of it won't hurt you, and you will be really mad at yourself if you don't take the opportunity to go in the ocean now

We all have fears - some justified and some not. Try not to let your fears or those of others control your life. Start by just wading a little way into the water with others. If you are not a good swimmer, dont go in too deep. I think you will find that there is nothing to fear from the water. Millions of people go into the ocean everyday with no serious problems.

ok swimming in the ocean is A TON of fun!!
I MEAN THERE IS NOTHING TO BE SCARED OF I WENT IN THE WATER LIKE 6 WEEKS OLD BUT YOU KNOW PUT ME FEET IN AND EVERY YEAR WE GO TO THE BEACH AND WE SWIM ALL DAY THEN TAKE A SHOWER AND G TO TO DINNER. SRY ANYWAYS I'VE NEVER SEEN SHARKS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT . I DID CATCH A FISH AND I SAW ONE SWIM BY ME BUT THEY'RE HARMLESS BECAUSE THEY WON'T BIT OR ANYTHING AND ONCE YOU GET IN THE WATER YOU FORGET ABOUT YOUR WORRIES. at first go waist depp then go further and further out. i like to swim a lot so i go really far out then i swim back and it's so fun cause ur excited and nervous at the same time. if you do that and get scare you know no waves witll crash on you. you just swim back as fast as you can you can like time ur self . you can also go to these things called platforms and they're like a plastic thig that's anchored in and you swim out to it and you can dive off and stuff and swim back it's a lot of fun going out especially if you go with more than your self you don't even really have to swim that much going back cause the current will take you.
if you have any questions just email me ( it's on my profile)
i'm happy to help!
and if the water is clear and you see some thing you don't like like an animal just get out !
the ocean where we go is cold so make sure you wear a wet suit if the waters cold or your hands and feet willl be purple!
