it's a means of self-expression. i personally like long hair on boys, so it doesn't bother me. i think there are a lot more pressing issues to worry about with sixth graders than hair length.

my brother is in 6th grade and he refuses because he has very thick, wavy, long hair and they have to use the buzzers on him. he HATES it and won't let them. he actually went around the salon and screamed and cried in 6th grade just because he thought the buzzers would cut him! my mom was really embarressed, and i just couldn't quit laughing, lol. they never can use buzzers on him now, just scissors, but he still complains and whines when its time for a haircut. i guess 6th grade boys aren't at an age where they think they have to look good, so they don't care how long they're hair gets. too bad my brothers grows fast:)

It does happen to be the style but kids really want to fit in and think that if they ever cut it it will become to short and it does begin becoming too long. Then they see a picture of themself and are like....ewww! I need a haircut. So take some pictures if it really is that long, if not, it's just the style

Because that's the style right now. Have you ever seen "The Suite Life of Zak and Cody"? They all just want to look good and these days long hair is what is in. Most of the boys at my son's school wear their hair like that.

This is the typical style for 2007, and probably will be for a while to come. All young kids want to 'fit in' now days, and this is the current hair style.
*Girls' hair is getting shorter, and boys are growing theirs longer.

even to boys hair is a huge deal.
maybe he's trying to go for a skater look. (skaters have longer hair and almost always in their eyes)

My brother did but when one of his friends got it cut he got it cut 2 weeks later. Maybe it makes them feel better to have it there own way. They feel in control.

The emo/skater/scene look is popular now I've noticed.
