When the computer starts, hit DEL or whatever key they suggest. A DOS screen will appear. Look for "Boot Order" Change the boot devices to read

CD-Rom
Hard Disk 0

Do NOT change anything else or you WILL be sorry.

Place the Windows CD in the drive NOW

Save (Flash the Bios) with the F10 key. It may be different on your machine.

Your computer will boot up from the CD.

Follow the prompts.

Are you installing Windows XP on a computer with no operating system? Insert the CD, restart the computer and it should boot up automatically. If it doesn't then you must go into BIOS or Start Up Options to make the computer choose the CD/DVD drive.

when you press the power button you see a screen and it says push del to enter setup or push F2 to enter setup etc. you have to push this to enter the bios settings and change the boot order to put CDROM before Hard drive (so that it will check the cd first) next save the settings, (computer will restart) when it restarts put the windows cd in and it will ask you to push anykey to boot from cdrom press a key.
