From the time Americans started driving automobiles up untill George W. Bush took office, the price of gas was below 1.00/ gallon. After he took office, the price in, 6 years, has gone up to over 3.00/ gallon.

I think it is because he is an oil man. What's your opinion?

That may well be part of it. There's always more though. The was in Iraq, the posturing with Iran and the regional instability that brings. The fact that there hasn't been any significant increase in US refining capacity in the US in over 20 years. Unscheduled shutdowns of the existing refining capacity. Increased demand and lessened supply. Increased taxes. Changes in formulations of gasoline for ecology. Increased use of ethanol usage. Various foreign and domestic government policies, both federal and state. And probably much more.

Below a $1.00?

What country are you living in?

Gas prices were over a $1.00 for the entire 8 years that clinton was in office.

They have gone up since for various reasons.

I think it's because OPEC raised the price of oil to take advantage of America. England pays more than we do, by the way.
Saudi Arabia, no matter what anyone may think are still Arabs who dislike USA. Remember when their prince offered Rudy Giuliani $10,000,000 after 9/11, made a speech about USA being to blame for the attacks, and then wanted the New York mayor to take that check? I do, thanks to Mayor Giuliani, he turned it down.

Gas has been way over $1 a gallon for years and years, way before GWB was in office. Check your facts.

It's possible, but there are other causes.
For example, a large number of oil refineries in america need a SERIOUS overhaul.
If you do the research instead of placing automatic blame, you might come up with some other obvious reasons.

$1 is relative. If you consider inflation, the price per gallon is still less now than it was in the 70's.
