I know this sounds like an obvious question - I am trying to get a pair of gray sweatpants to turn completely white (for a halloween costume). I put them through the wash with about 3 cups of bleach and not a thing happened (which is bizarre b/c usually I accidentally bleach everything). I was thinking of just soaking them in bleach, but am worried it will put holes in the fabric...any ideas? Thanks!

You would be better off buying white, but you are probably trying to bleach synthentic or partly syn. fabric which has the color inside the thread. You might be able to do it with all cotton.sweats.

You can't. Just buy a white pair.
