I was in a bad car accident in may from a drunkdriver. my child and I were hit bad, and it totaled my van. i can not work again yet. I did home health(hha/cna). I too am in school for the R.N program (doing prereq's).

You sound young, and being broke when you are just getting started SUCKS but it is part of life. It's called living paycheck to paycheck.
You can start with the community food bank; Have you been to the welfare office / food stamps? Do you have to drive your car? (Can you walk or take public transportation?).
Do your colleges have student living aid programs (not just the student loans these are loans or "grants" outside of the student loan programs).

this pretty much sounds like the situation that I am in. Do you have a good relationship with your in-laws? Maybe hinting to your father-in-law would trigger a chain reaction. It sure has helped me. Other than that I would suggest to you that you make a budget list and keep it . You could pawn some of your items if you wanted to,or you could try to cut grass, clean up someone's house,or get a part time job. These days it takes two people in the household to work so that you won't be living to survive, I hope some of these ideas will help you.

If you have no food, go to a food pantry. If you DO have some, be frugal with it to make it last.
Get yourself on a good budget & FOLLOW it. Cut out all unnecessary items..like restaurants, soda, alcohol or cigarettes, and shop at discount grocery stores (Aldi's or Woodman's are 2).
If you STILL can't make ends meet, then you need to get a second job (assuming you work, If you DON'T work, GET a job).

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! Call your family and ask for some money just to keep you a-float and then pay them back later. You could sell some of your things too. God be with you!

Learn how to budget and how to stretch the budget. There are a lot of meals you can make with beans, pasta and rice. Learn them...You don't say whether YOU have a job or not. I suggest you start looking for one.

Do none of you work?
Just check with your local welfare office, they can give you names of food banks and organizations that can help you out until your money comes in.
But seriously, you need a job with regular pay.
