If the slavery in question is in regards to African Americans, then I can't answer due to the fact that it is still a very sensitive issue, politically.
However, slavery is one of the oldest forms of commerce. The Egyptians had slaves, the Romans had slaves and so on.
Because the elite masters paid for their slaves, they were usually teated well. The lucky favourites lived in luxury and sometimes earned their freedom.
Killing a slave would be a last resort, because of financial loss.
The exception would be the Gladiators and other slaves used for blood sports in the arena. As this was a form of gambling, money investments were kept stable. The horror of it all has been tamed, but we still get excited about sports.
People have always been cruel. Even today, many terrible things go on that need to be addressed and prevented.
The Jews, in contrast, were killed. In their masses. They were "free" people and not owned by anyone who could either give a thumbs up or thumbs down regarding their fate.
The World refused to believe it for some time because it seemed so incredible. Even then, I am not sure whether the slaughter of the Jews was the main reason the Europeans went to war. There were lots of other issues involved.
And Europeans never stopped the killing of Jews; if anything, they just absolved themselves by creating the present state of Israel. Killing continued in different ways and still does, except now it is no longer a defenceless Holocaust.
Slavery was legally abolished, yet, even now, goes on all over the world - even under our very noses in the form of sweatshops, illegal immigrant prostitution and the like.
So I wouldn't say it took 400 years to put an end to it!
It is very hard indeed to compare the two, but bluntly speaking, genocide is more of a "Sit-up straight eye-opening " wake-up call than slavery.

You could probably find this out with a simple Google search.

Did you know that the Jews weren't killed until the very end of the war while the rest of Europe, Russia and America was struggling to defeat Hitler? It wasn't like they were sitting on their butts.

As for slavery... why hasn't the middle east and Africa gotten rid of slavery yet? Europe is a minor player in slavery compared to Africa.

Are you comparing the end of the holocaust and world war 2 and the end of slavery and the civil war? I think it should be noted that killing of Jews had been going on a lot longer than the few years in the 1940's. Slavery ended because of economics with a small mix of morality. Jews and descendants of slaves still have to deal with a minority of the population that discriminate against them.

coz slavery was widespread and accepted as the norm. Genocide was not.

Also, Hitler happened a lot later... AFTER the world had begun to see all men as equal.

I'm also pretty sure that the threat of Hitler as a conqueror played a big part. More than feeling sympathy for Jews, they were trying to kill Hilter before he took over the whole continent.

Why are people still allowing the same crap to go on in Africa and China etc.. Human Rights???? No likely. People like to live in their own little secure world and not get involved. Until those in the West have an all out battle with the Godless pigs in Asia and the Middle East there will be no human rights.

What makes you think that slavery has ended? In some parts of Africa and the Middle East, slavery still exists.

Do a search for FBI and Slavery (link below), and you will see that slavery has not ended.

The economy did not depend on killing jews in the same way slavery was the crutch that held up the economy. You are kind of comparing apples and oranges but there you go, that is my thought
