Both.

In many ways, the things I've had to endure have made me appreciate how valuable, and ephemeral, life and happiness really are, and made me better able to cope with the things I will have to endure in the future.
On the other hand, the scars on my soul and in my mind will never truly heal; and although the pain has faded to a point where it no longer dominates my life. the wounds are easily re-opened.

The trials and tribulations that I have been through were awful at the time but now I am thankful for them because they have molded me into the person that I am today... and that I wouldn't change. I have no hate, bitterness or anger against anyone that hurt me in my life. I have forgiven everyone for everything that has ever happened to me and everyone that has done it. I have learned from my own mistakes and moved forward in life with those lessons becoming the person that I am today. Today I am very emotionally strong, am not afraid to be alone, love myself and my family and friends. I am ambitious, outgoing, energetic... I know what I want, am not afraid to get it and won't take an BS along the way!!

You probably weren't looking for all that but your question is something that I often think about and ask people myself. I think that a lot of people hold all the pain, anger and hurt it without realizing that the only person that they are hurting is themselves and their loved ones. Forgiving... learning lessons from not only your own but other peoples mistakes and moving forward in life is much better and takes more strength than tucking tail and hiding from life.

I thought they'd made me stronger until I found another peice of them, then the pyramid came crashing down and I had to rebuild it. I'm redoing my design now. I'm thinking of something like a Norse longhouse......

I repeat... I believe they have made me emotionally, mentally and spiritually stronger, physically weaker, though.

I remember choking and gagging while my parents forced me to eat peas and broccoli. Now I love those two veggies and I'm very healthy and slightly muscular as well.
