I don't own a car.
I bike in rain, shine, fog, and snow.
If the weather is too bad, then I take public transport.

But I do this because it works for me.
It will be really hard to get people to voluntarily give up things - like cars - that they enjoy. That is why it will take serious commitment from governments to make any solution to global warming work.

Go to the "Environment->Global Warming" section.

And yes, of course I would give up my car if it were necessary to save the planet but the primary cause of Global Warming is power plants not cars so first we should convert all our coal plants to nuclear. Your implication that getting rid of our cars is essential smacks of Republican propaganda.

Of course I will.I will give up anything to save the planet. The thing is we aren't able to do it. It's a hard task. We can't save the planet by giving up anything. We have to save it by doing things that are useful by using our brains to protect the planet.
But I think we are too late to save the planet. It has been corupted and sabotaged by us. They are our own mistakes.
