Get a flea program from your vet

You're right, store-bought products don't work. This is because stores aren't licensed to sell the correct drugs, so they're stuff is just random insecticides which are neither appropriate for flea-killing nor for application to animals.

Frontline does work however - so long as you haven't bought it online, and you got it on the dog's skin, not fur! Also, if you washed the dog before applying the Frontline (like, within 48 hours before) you will have washed off the natural oils of the skin, and the Frontline won't be able to work. Do not bath the dog within 48 hours before or after applying a spot-on.

You will probably have to spray your house as well, since this is where most of the fleas are living. Again, get something from a vets, not a pet store.

You could also try Advantage or Revoltion, or Advocate if you want - like Frontline, they're from a vets and they work.

For one month of your life it's going to be a pain.
Vaccuum your whole house any day and 1 or 2 days every single week steam clean your entire house, including furniture. Take all of your bedding, anything soft and plush and wash it every week, when you're doing steam cleaning have someone else give your animals a flea dip, buy a good brand of flea shampoo, Hartz is my personal fav and bath your animals from head to toe and keep them in the bathroom until the whole place has been cleaned, after a few weeks you will start seeing results.

Flea collars actually are useless products, and there's no one single treatment that will get rid of fleas in one day.

you should give him a flea collar or something, there's a flea program where they give your pet a shot and fleas can't attach to them ^_^
