first of all gogle a TCP/IP optimizer and tweak your internet settings to get maximum performance. Run a speed test, at testmy.net, and then tweak your upload and download settings. If you're using third party apps such as Utorrent, make sure theyre configured properly to your speed, this is a great article to help digg.com/software/uTorrent_guide_to_speeding_up_downloads.
Then close and apps that are sucking your bandwidth that you don't really need, such as irrelevant so0ftware updates, real centre etc etc. Use FIREFOX and get a download manage add-on. Disallow any irrelevant apps using a firewall. Or just get a better ISP!!!

Even though it's a free trial, 1 run from it will fix tons of probs in your computer.......It will even optimize your internet.......It is a full working free trial but I have had a tremendous boost of speed in my computer overall.......Hope this helped.......

It all depends on your rate you have dsl or cable? Second your computer process power can cause a diff in download speeds, an a eithernet card can be an issue to.

Some programs can slow you down, like I understand Norton does? Other ones to for sure. If you have alot of icons at the bottom or on your start up page that will slow you down. Spy ware will slow you down. Your internet itself can be slow. Busy times by alot of users can slow you down. Alot of cookies can slow you down. Viruses can slow you down. Explorer "7" can slow you down! Alot of temporary files can slow you down, not defraging can slow you down, or not cleaning your pc. And of course being a slow typer or an old machine can slow you down........as well as I am sure a ton of other things. But some of these would help speed you up.

you can erase your cookies and defrag the computer..it makes things run faster---sadly :( I found that yahoo messenger makes my computer run a little slower

If you have dsl, get cable. Clear your cookies as well.
