Hi, I went yesterday for my OB appointment and they said I have a low lying placenta but it is not covering the cervix at all .
He said this is not a problem even if it doesn't rise it isn't a problem. If it isn't a problem then why do I have to go for another ultrasound Wednesday. ?

Did anyone else have a low lying placenta and your children healthy .?

By the way I am 21 weeks. and this ultrasound was taken at 17 weeks.

Can someone explain from personal experience.
Will I have to have a c-section and if so why.?

Partial previa is pretty common, and most cases resolve themselves as you grow.

If the placenta stays too close to (touching or actually covering) your cervix, you'll deliver by C-section. And your doctor might give you some additional restrictions later on in your pregnancy (no strenuous activity, no sex, perhaps bedrest).

But most of the time, it's really not a problem. The placement of the placenta moves, you have no restrictions, and you deliver naturally.

The doc probably just wants to get another look, to assess the situation. Oh, and "low-lying placenta" is not the same thing as placenta previa. You only have previa if the cervix and placenta are touching each other. Low-lying just means they're close.

I had partial previa with both kids. And both times, the previa resolved itself. (I had C-sections with both due to other complications, but the previa was no problem.)

Sweetie, you need to take it easy, try not to do anything strenous. Did your doctor put you on bedrest yet?

You will be fine, just take it slow and report any spotting if you should have any. You're 21 weeks, so you should be great.

I had a c-section too, and its to prevent rupture of the placenta during labor. Best wishes to you and God bless.
