That's going to be something of a roadblock, though...the voters approach may be to hold it against Raines for being, for a lack of a better description, a "second rate Rickey", and while he is worthy of being a Hall of Famer, the idea that the best seasons of his career were paralleled with Rickey Henderson would figure to be some kind of deterrent.

Raines was also into the powder in his early days, so that probably won't help his cause with the pristine writers, either.

If he does get voted in, he'd go in as an Expo.

He should be a first ballot member. No one had a higher steals-to-caught ratio. He was a great lead off hitter. The last 4 or 5 years he was a part-time veteran, so the old lady writers might not like him, but he was a Rock.

No. He won't get a sniff of the Hall. He was a good player in his day, but nothing close to Hall of Fame credentials.

We'll get our first indication in January.

He deserves it in my opinion. Anyone who can play like 91% of Rickey Henderson is Hall-worthy.

he may get in by the veterans committee, he was a good player with lots of steals. Also a good team player and fan friendly player. He probably goes in with the expos since he had his best years with them.
