Cents do not necessarily have to be old to be valuable. The rare, in coin collecting can mean there are very few, the coin maybe rare in high grade, or it is a rare variety. There are rare varieties of modern cents, there are doubled dies out there from 1995 and down. There are also some cents that were produced with a proof reverse die. Get a red book a guide to U.S. coins. The 1969 you have if it has an S under the date could be the rare 1969-S doubled die obverse cent. These days very few coins are rare due to mintage being low. Most today are error coins which has a growing collector base. I however am not one of them but there are books out there that will help you if you want to go for it. See a coin dealer for the titles.
