If the divorce was finalized, you are divorced.
If you want to be married to the ex again, you must get married again, just like the first time.

No. at least not in CA, The education and support of a MINOR child would continue, but the custodial person would received it through court order. There are a couple things however. 1. At age 19 she is no longer a Minor and unless the divorce states he is to pay for specific things after age 18. Your Granddaughter would have to take him to court for college funds or petition the court that is holding the money. 2. When She moved the court in NJ lost jurisdiction - The jurisdiction is with the court where she lives, or maintains permanent residence if she attends college in another state. The court where she has permanent residence would have jurisdiction over the matter. That her mother is deceased changes some things about the child support portion of the divorce but doesn't make the divorce null. Her change of residence changes the jurisdiction and NJ should have be notified immediately after your daughter died. As far as supporting her or paying for her college, that was your decision and has nothing to do with the divorce. The problem here is you expected him to do something he has never bothered to do in 19 years. I would talk to an attorney and not bother courts.

You're still divorced. If there are children involved, you need to see an attorney. Check out http://www.totaldivorce.com.

It's the most comprehensive site on divorce on the internet. Seriously. There is even a forum where you can talk to others who may have been through what you have.

Good luck to you.

The first responder is exactly right. If the divorce was final then you are indeed completely divorced. If you want to be married to him again then you have to go through the wedding all over again.

Nope - you're still divorced if the divorce was finalized.
(And seriouslly, - you might want to think about the reasons you got a divorce to begin with before you get back together!)

If there was a final decree you are still divorced. If you want to be married again you'll have to go through the entire process all over again.

If the divorce was completed..and filed, it means..you are divorced!! AND ...you'd have to get legally remarried if you want to be.

I have to add my 2 cents worth here: I found out a long time ago that if it didn't work out the first time, it's not going to work the second time. So why waste your time? Move on along and find yourself somebody new and exciting!!!
