I hope its not true because I haven't finished doing all the things I want to do. If it does, then I think global warming would have played a part in it. On that day I hope to be back in my homeland with all the people I love the most so if the world does end - I won't be alone.

It's basically like the end of an era, we will be entering the age of Aquarius at that time period, some say it will just be the world ending as we know it that we will elevate our consciousness and rise up to a less material realm, others say it will be a war, or a natural disaster but no matter what the world seems to be progressing for big change to happen. I'm not scared though I'm excited I think the world needs change.

This is called 'The Mayan Curse'. Millions of dead Mayans are rolling in laughter on the other side because of all the silly Europeans who are having royal fits over the fact that the Mayan calendar simply runs out of time in 2012.
I don't believe it will happen, but I can imagine that there will be a number of rip-roaring parties in various places all over the world on 12/20 to celebrate it. It will not only be a great excuse to party, but would be a great physical state to be in should the end actually come that evening.
Me? I plan to go to bed early that night.

That is sheer nonsense, just like dozens of other doomsday predictions. I DO know it is untrue, and I'd bet much on it. Did you hear about Y2K? Jesus believed the end would come while some people hearing his sermons wetre still alive. he joins Nostradamus and many others in being wrong about this. The date is just the end of a Mayan calendar cycle. If the Mayans were so wise, why did they not foresee the spaniards killing them wholesale in the 16th century? Why do people want to believe such nonsense as this doomsday stuff? Earth will end when the Sun turns into a red giant when it consumes most of its hydrogen in 5,000,000, 000 years or more.

No it doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world. It means that the LONG COUNT will end on that day according the Tzolkin calendar (otherwise mislabelled as simply the Mayan calendar). According to the Maya, the long count is simply a cycle. It began in 3114 B.C.E. and it will end in 2012. There has been a lot of debate on this, but personally I believe that a new era will probably begin. The Ancient Egyptians also had a similar belief that the god Amun-Ra will one day tire of humanity and will begin a new cycle of creation. If you are interested, check out books on the Mayan civilization and the unique calendar they developed . Warning: be careful of the "New Age" wackos who exploit various ancient cultures such as Egypt and India only for their personal needs and will try to mislead you.

IF the world ends on that day we won't feel a thing because we will all be dead! The only way to know if this is true is wait around for it. However, as this is based on the end of the Mayan calendar and the Mayans couldn't foresee the Conquistadors, I wouldn't worry about it. Either way you will not be able to control it. My bet is that the world ends when YOU die, whenever that happens to be, because you are no longer "of this world".

I don't think it will.
i know everyone is talking about global warming, but that's going a little too far. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.
To explain it more simply, it means that pollution is creating a cloud around the Earth of which hot air cannot escape. Pollution like greenhouse gases just make this worse every day.
If you want to help, donate money to American forests association, donate money to help plant a tree in the rain forest, or simply plant a tree or some plants in your own back yard and try to recycle. Al Gore's documentary 'An Inconvinient Truth' talks about these issues and how you can help. Also, try turning your t.v. off when you're not watching it, and turning your computer off when you're not using it. You can also buy energy saving light bulbs. There are other household items you can buy like electricity sockets and more that will save energy and money. Even though they are a little more expensive they will save you a lot of money. If you do some research there are many associations you can help or just try to save the planet a little bit at a time.
Think of all the animals, like polar bears, tropical monkeys, elephants, frogs, birds and many many more who will become extinct.
Do it for them, do it for the planet, or do it for yourself.

I know the world will not end on that date. This is because the future, is what we make of it, and can not be predicted. An outcome, can always be improve by working harder and with a better plan. The future is what we make of it. I see no natural disaster of the extreme magnitude required to end this world, being projected by any scientists. It is impossible to know the weather that far ahead, to predict a asteroid collision or something is extemely hard..The odds of lucking on a date and minute impossible.

Technically that is impossible. The WHOLE world cannot end on that date because in another part of the coutnry it would be a different time and even a day ahead or behind. So hahah take that pessimistic *******! Idk honsetly the world will end for me when i die, it think the world will end theory, is just acting on death itself. As far as i know most theorys of death will die fast unless its the terminator theory and we burn slowly, yuck.
