Believe it or not, I think it could still be the USA.

Although who knows what could happen over such a long time.

100 years from now the USA could have 88 states, and it may not even be called the USA. And we could just be getting over World War VI.

But seriously, in 100 years the concept of the nation state will not be what it is today. The USA could still be on top, but so could China, India, or even Russia.

It will be a very different world.

China or India.

American hegemony is already starting to wane. Hell, the Chinese could break us right now if they sold off all the US dollars and T-bills they're holding.

I am a 100% loyal American. That stated--I see troubles ahead if we don't get our priorities in line. Everyone thinks it will be wars that sink us but I think it will be the flood of illegals that break us before the wars or the dollars. We are being invaded from with-in without a shot fired! I looked at a Milk Carton this morning and saw it written in English and Spanish!! (WHY-this is USA-we speak English) The jobs shifted to Asia will cause more harm, the total lose of Religion and disipline will cause harm, the dependence on oil will harm, the political correctness of our politics will harm. Take all into perspective and I see us falling if we don't stop the liberal destruction of America USMC 60-68

I also believe it will be America. We're still babies, compared to the rest of the world's countries in age.
The Roman Empire lasted from 31BC to 1453. I think we're stronger than they were, so we would last at least as long as they.
I really don't think countries like India, or China, due to their over-population, will ever be the superpower, even with Nukes. No country that has been a superpower in History was one because of their over abundance of humans. It came from personal strength, and leadership of their Kings, Ceasars, etc.
As long as our president, and the people of a Nation bond together for the sake of their country, they will be the strongest.
Just a note: Liberals and those who constantly attack their own country, not supporting her military, and their leader, will take down their country. It happened in Russia, with the Revolution putting Communism, and Marxism in power. The leader of N. Korea is doing the same thing to his country, and China is also.

In 100 years, everybody on the planet today will likely be dead. So, that issue shouldn't concern anyone. Who cares what country will be on top 100 years from now. It's today that concerns me.
For that matter, I don't even care it the USA is the number 1 power in the world today. What I care about is providing for my family.
One point to those who said above that China controls enough US debt to put us out of business. That's not even close to being true.
The US GDP is $13 trillion plus. China's GDP is under $3 trillion. Our economy is over 4 times larger than China's. To think China could finance the major share of our debt is like thinking your local mom and pop grocery store could close down Kruger's or any other large grocery chain at will. That notion is baseless.

It will still be the US. We are now the most productive and strongest country in the world and have really only been around since 1776. We hit our stride in the early 1900's so the path to greatness is only 100 years old now.
In the historical perspective, we are just getting started.
The rest of the world is just now getting it's act together and it still is being burdened by religious and socialist obstacles.
In 100 Years they may catch up but, not in a position to take over number one.

I don't know which country will be the richest, but I know it won't be the United States. we are over nine trillion dollars in debt thanks to the Bush junta doubling the National Debt.

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.42 billion per day since September 29, 2006

I would guess China if it isn't already. They can bankrupt us at any time just by calling in their loans to our government. That makes them stronger than us at least.

****THE US ISN"T THE MOST POWERFUL NATION ANYMORE****

Funny how so many people think that it is though.

Edit:
I should have included sources.
The US economy is 52% owned by other countries

Japan is the largest holder but China is able to artificially deflate its currency relative to ours. So that 3 trillion is worth a lot more than it looks like in that country. Chinese goods cost way less relatively speaking for the same product you'd buy in the US.

Also the actual amount they hold of our government is 400 billion. This is down from an earlier figure because they are worried about the falling value of the US dollar.

So, ya Asia owns us.

Only thing I can tell you is that I dont think it will be the USA. We have become a lazy and a liberal nation.... both will keep us from being the kind of nation we have been in the past.
