Yes. Parents give it to their kids, both in the form of innate ability passed on via their genes, and in a rich and nurturing environment that stimulates brain development, and challenges the kids to learn more, aim higher, think rationally, and perform better.

The answer will solely depend upon the audience to whom it is posed - An overly arrogant member of Mensa, or the Promethius Society would say "Absolutely". Yet they lend nothing to society or to anyone in their personal lives. Unless we include those who spend their lives eating Wendy's and gathering in a Think Tank they have been hired by to come up with ideas to change the world. But that isn't truly living!!

To a person in the normal intelligence range, they usually tend to do their best to answer in their most intelligent way, utilizing intense verbage, this is due to their feeling inadequate. Which they shouldn't feel they have to do. NO ONE is better than anyone else!!

The "gifted" tend to be [ at least the majority of] extremely self involed, bitterly sarcastic, thoughtless, extremely intraverted, very lonely, antisocial, mostly due to not making friends; they have nothing in common with people of normal intelligence, although they try - it is normally on the part of others who shy away from one who is gifted due to their character flaws.

Short answer - Sometimes it is a gift - Most times it feels more like a curse, [ relationship and societal wise] ..

I guess we could say it a gift, as I have read about children that are very intelligent. I try to find a link.
But, I believe we can all be intelligent in areas that interest us. So, having the desire to learn can be a good asset.

Here the link I wanted to show you. Took forever to find. I was thinking he was 8 and he 9. Makes a big difference in a search. But, this just one example and there are others. I would say this boy have a gift.

If you consider life as a gift then what comes with it...the genetic predisposition for intelligence or lack thereof...then yes intelligence is a gift.

Personally I think that intelligence is a gift and how we use our intelligence to benefit our fellow(s) determines how we best use the gifts and graces that are bestowed upon us.

I think it is a gift, but it doesn't come to everyone so naturally. Some people are born intelligent, yet some work extremely hard to know what they know and get where they are.
