Normal is 98.6. constipation can effect body temp. Out a couple of drops of dark Karo syrup in her bottle it will help with that.

98.6 is normal. I don't think she has a temp. A fever is a symptom of something else, a fever itself is not the problem. Your apartment should be set to where you are comfortable. People make the mistake of thinking that babies get colder or hotter than us. Everything I have read says that if you are comfortable the baby is comfortable. I'm not sure about the constipation. Are you breast feeding? If so, it's not uncommon for a baby that young to go 2 days or so without a bowel movement. I wouldn't worry about her temp. Keep checking it and if it goes to 100 then I would call the doctor.

SHE DOES NOT HAVE A FEVER!!! THERE IS NO NEED TO DO ANYTHING!
A baby's normal temp should be around 36c, 97 is about 36.1, so she is fine! A baby can also go for days without doing a poo, if she seems like she is trying to go I would say that she has wind and maybe even colic, but I wouldn't worry if she doesn't do, if you like you can offer her some cooled down boiled water to see if that helps, or rub her belly in a clockward direction, I also find if you pull their legs back this helps.
They also advise AGAINST cooling a baby down with cloth and water as it can lower it too quickly and make them even worse.
I would also check the temp of the room you're keeping baby in and adjust clothing and blankets to suit.

As with all fevers, rest is important. Keep her resting for a few days and see how things go. If her temp goes past 100, take her to the doctor. Mom said I used to get horrible 105 fevers that lasted up to a week. So I'm assuming 97 isn't too bad. See what happens. Good luck! Hope your baby feels better soon.

Fever in infants is 100.4 (rectally).. then call doc and get baby in for a check... they always recommend taking temp rectally since it is the most accurate.. it is hard to do and uncomfortable, but it truly is the best way.. I cannot remember at what age the temp for taking to the doc changes, I believe it is after 2 or 3 months (you would have to ask the doc) but then it changes to a higher temp.. Fever is not a problem, it is symptom of something else going on. Your best bet is just to call the doctor and talk to someone... they will tell you if you should bring her in or not...

just a little over heated unless perhaps with having medical issues , do you have your heat up in the house take the blanket off your baby ,first time mommies all worry like that it's natural . 98.6 is normal body temp . you did fine cooling off your baby with luke warm water ! r u breast feeding your baby or using a breast pump? to keep your baby hydrated and healthy is to have feeding on schedule like every 2 to 3 hr feedings but, too young for feed on demand !!! i beleave !!!!!! a fever is 101.0 and if it persist , if you tried cooling down and it takes an hour or longer it would consider being a fever.

If she is constipated and running a fever then you need to take her to the doctor. Try taking a rectal temperature because it's more accurate than an ear one. Constipation can cause an increase in body temperature (regular is 98.6). You need to add a fiber supplement to her bottle to help with the constipation- call your doctor to find out what is best to give her.

With a newborn its not considered a fever until you reach 100- and then you should call your doctor. Remember when you take a rectal you take away a degree, and under arm you add one.

After the first 2 months a fever is not a fever until its over 102. And then, unless they have other symptoms like lethargy or rash you just give them tylenol.

Newborns dont regulate the temperatures very well, and they tend to be much warmer than you and me. If she were too warm she would fuss. She sounds just fine to me.

the most obvious thing to say would to call your docs office and get some advice...it seems like you dont know much about babies... for constipation add a VERY small amount of orange juice to preboiled water in a bottle and give that to her..that should work... if her temp doesnt come down and you are very worried, take to an A and E department, when it comes to babies you cant take any chances...

If she's constipated and running a fever, please take her to the emergency room or call your doctor right away. Constipation can be a big problem with babies, you might want to try her on a different formula, if she's on formula.
