I look at its stance on reproductive rights, government surveillance, and pre-emptive war, and have to say they are a great obstacle to freedom.

Which Republicans are you referring to? They don't all agree on their agenda. I'm a registered Democrat and will concede that in part the Republican Party IS a force for freedom in this world. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and he ended slavery in the US. If that isn't a force for freedom, I don't know what is. What you are referring to isn't so much the Republicans as the extreme-right wing. The extreme-left disturbs me just as much, because the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I consider myself a moderate, and do not always agree with the Democratic Party platforms - sometimes I agree with the Republican point of view. Its more complicated than just belonging to a single political party. It was the Republicans in the deep south during times of segregation that were courting the black vote - the southern Democrats were more likely to "kow tow" to the segragationist whites back then.

Yep, freedom unlike the democrap appeasing party.
1. Reproductive rights? your right, every woman that gets pregnant planned or otherwise has the right to have that baby.
2. Government surveillance? What are you hiding? if nothing, than why worry.
3. Pre emptive war? The Islamoterrorist attacked us first, the natural progression was to get rid of the next enemy, Iraq & saddam, anything Ive said that you can't wrap your head around?

How ironic you aren't taking things in context. Have you considered that alqueda is spying on Americans? Plotting attacks? Are you afraid a terrorist may be caught while having his rights violated? You have nothing to fear about your rights. The US is doing everything it can to preserve your rights.
I suppose living under alqueda or the Taliban you would have many more rights, but you would have a phone to be tapped anyway!
I think the Democrats are the ones that want to socialize everything. Make everybody equally poor except the people they allow to prosper. They want to control your lives, not defend your life.
Not the norm? Are you saying that white Americans aren't allowed rights because they are not the majority? I don't get it.

Im sure you can relate to the republican's stance of "Long Haired Freaky People Need Not Apply"

The song was written long ago, but republicans ideals have not. Eventually, I believe the republican party will become obsolete. Rich White Conservative Christians are NOT the norm anymore.

FREE THE PEOPLE!

Republicans are Republicans. They push for some freedoms, and take others away. Democrats do the same, though not on the same issues, and no to as much extremes.

The Repubs are more like the 'Farce for Freedom'. Do you honestly think the Repubs give a hairy rats butt about the freedom of Iraqi people? They don't, their BS propaganda only hides their true economic and political goals

"pre-emptive war"

You mean like the ones the dems have started the majority of in our history?

The Republican party is about one thing and one thing only:

The continued accumulation of wealth for those who are already wealthy and guarding that wealth against any form of equitable taxation so that it can be distributed to their children (so they too, won't have to work).
