Artificial induction doesn't work for every woman, especially is she has not reached her due date yet. Just wait and see and you might go into labor naturally. Or the 2nd induction might be more successful since almost another week has passed.

All the best to you

You definately need to relax. How many weeks are you? Try to make sure you drink water, stay away from salt, try to walk around more. They should be monitoring the baby while they have you on these drugs. I had two baby's by induced labor.
The one that was 2 weeks late (42 wks) took 2 days of induced labor and I ended up with a c-section. My second baby was also induced I was not quite to 40 wks, and that took an entire day and she was a vaginal delivery. Both kids were about 8 lbs. If they let you go home, try to rest and give it another go on Monday. Find someone to give you either a shoulder or a foot/leg massage. It will at least help you feel a little better. Good luck and hang in there, the baby will come out soon, it's just not ready yet.

It happens quite often that inductions don't work, especially if you are a bit early.

There is nothing you can do at home to "help" this process along if the cervidil and pitocin didn't work - no home remedy is as strong as those meds!

So just relax - it's the most important thing you can do right now, especially given your BPs. Usually second induction attempts end up working just fine.

Good luck!

Are you at home? They wouldn't let me leave the hospital and kept a close eye on me once the cervidel started. I've never heard of dr.'s waiting so long after inducing. Why aren't they doing a csection? How far along are you?

I don't know how many weeks you are. I hope 38-40. It is said that they like to come out the same way they went in...in a bath of semen! Have sex, let him stimulate your nipples. That gets the oxitocin (sp) flowing and will probably help labor begin naturally. Also eat fruits & veggies raw and brown rice, whole grains. Stay away from junk food and do drink a lot of water.

Best wishes!

pitocin drip is already strong enough to cause intermittent contraction, at times, it can cause over working of the uterus by too much contraction. it did happen to me when i had my son. the suggestion is to deliver that baby by forcep and even by c/section. they did a low forcep with me.
