Well it is not made out of gold and it is not hand made. You could have got it from a mint employee, but it was minted. It is just a medal that has the name of the two Canadian mints on it, one on each side. The medal was minted after 1975 when the Winnipeg mint opened. Coins from Canada have the word Canada on it as well as a value. You just have a mint medal. Mint medals of U.S. mints, are available from the mints here in the states, at their gift shops. As for value call one of the mints in Canada and ask.

Taiping is right on this one. This coin was not made by hand but in a mint and the coin is not made out of gold.

1 - Take your coin to a local coin dealer (trustworthy ones can be found - shop around). It never hurts to get a second opinion. They will be able to tell you so much more by evaluation the condition of the coins. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.

2 - Try posting pictures on this website (there are many experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):

3 - Repost this question and include pictures. You can use websites like http://www.photobucket.com and include the link in your question.

Good luck!
