i never had eating problems, im 15 and skinnny and about 5'11" and i have extreme metabolism and i can eat anything i want, but why am i getting these urges to eat so much? just today i was riding my bike and passed by subway and wanted to get a cinnamon roll.

the problem im trying to explain is that im worrying about food too much. like ill be in school and it would be time to get on our bus, and id be thinking about what i can eat at home. why am i always thinking about food? im always hungry and i have nothing better to do, i literally sit in y house for 24 hours when i dont have school and do nothing, i dont even play video games, i just sit there. What can i do to:
-get food off my mind,
-have something to do so i dont think about food,
-and get back to my eating habits where i could eat anything i wanted and not gain weight (at least not at this age right now)

It could just like everyone else says that you are a teen and your body needs extra energy right now. It could be that simple.
Or, there is a possibility that something larger is bothering you and instead of dealing with that, your mind is focusing on food because its easy and it feels good. Is someone bothering you or harassing you? Is there anything wrong in your life that you have a hard time talking about? Just something to think about.
Otherwise, dont worry and dont sit at home-- or your metabolism will slow down! Keep riding your bike and get together with friends after school.

You are at an age where you are in one of the last stages of growth. In order to grow, your body needs a variety of foods that contain the nutrients it needs. Don't let your food cravings control what you eat. Conciously make food choices that are good for your growing body.

To get food off your mind, AND have something to do when you are home, try finding a hobby.....whether it is sewing, crocheting, doing puzzles, making model cars or planes - anything that will occupy your mind and hands.

Your mention of thinking about what to eat when you get home is normal - I think everyone has been through that. Probably every kid in America has something to eat when they get home from school.

One other thing you can do is when you start thinking about what you can eat, ask yourself if you really are hungry. If you are, go ahead & eat. If you're not, then it's just a craving because that particular food item is good.

My mom always used to say "Don't eat because you want to, eat because you are hungry".

Good luck.

I would suspect that you are just growing. Your teen years are some of your most active for growing and craving food in general is normal :)

Specific cravings are (generally) as sign of something missing from your diet (like craving banana bread when your body needs potassium). Pay attention to your cravings BUT make sure you are eating a healthy, balanced diet. Lots of fruit and veg. Lots of water.

Often our body will send us hunger messages when in reality we are only thirsty and are dehydrated.

If you want to get food off of your mind drink lots of fluids and get active. Find a hobby to engage your brain. Find a sport to engage your body. Get out with your friends. Find a part time job. Volunteer at your local seniors centre (they are fascinating people to hang out with!).

There's lots to do! Good luck and have fun!

That's completely normal. Your 15 and your body is still in a massive growth period. All the changes that are happening to your organs let alone your exterior. If you continue to eat right and stay active you're fine. Don't worry so much.

if you are skinny, you wouldnt mind to gain a little muscle mass... join a team sport. Then, not only you can keep eating, but it will go directly into your biceps.
