My dad is my best friend, we at times he can really piss him off, other times i push him to the limit, then we may not talk for a day or so , then well call each other up and go fishing, or well cook and have a meal together. Most of all hes always there for me right p to an accident where i nearly lost my life, he came to the hospital every day and cried and comforted me. I love him lots he did a great job as single parent and raised me well..Kisses. and hugs dad!

Yes, my parents are my friends, I talk to them often. Although my birth mother passed the day before my 19th birthday, I have no idea what I would do without the mother I have now. I call often for silly things that a girl needs to ask her her mom like can I freeze these mushrooms and I cannot remember how to make the cucumber salad. I spoke to my father just yesterday, he was so thrilled that I sent him cookies for his birthday. He said I knew the way to his heart was through his stomach and not through my pocket book. I don't know what I will do that dreadful day when the Lord calls them home, they are both 77 now. I have been very blessed indeed to have had them for so long. I hope I am called first. What a wonderful question! Thank you!

I only have my mother, and yes, she is my friend, but I can only confide so much to her. Some things are better not said or talked about, but I would not ever want anyone else to fill her shoes, for she is my mother, I love her with all my heart, and when that day comes that she has to pass over to the other side, will be a very sad day. and I know I will never be the same again. I wish that death would never come to those we care so much about and are so much a part of our lives.

from a parent's point of view, i can say this: my 15 year old daughter and i are the best of friends. i am not, however, her peer. that's what makes the difference. i even "adopted" two of her best friends as my children, and they look at me as another mother. i make myself available to hear them out, don't judge them, and don't lie to them. we also have a lot of laughs and fun together. they never lose sight of the fact that i am the parent, but my daughter and her friends know they can come to me with anything. i haven't forgotten what it's like to be a teen, and although there are some differences in what teens have to deal with these days as opposed to the '80's when i was a teen, the basics never change. parents who forget that they were once teens always have problems relating to their kids. my father and i don't relate at all, so i came up with this all on my own. hope that helps!

I doubt that you will find many kids in the 7-teenage years who would say that.

Yes, I'm lucky. They are my best friends.
However, I didn't feel that way until I was in my 30's.
