Nubia and Kush were a source of exotic goods for the Egyptians. They supplied ivory , gold, spices, and timber among other things,
There was aNubian Empire and an Empire of Kush at various times but the Egyptians often invaded to get slaves.

Nubia was overrun by Egypt well before 1000 BC. When Egypt retired, Nubia was no more and Kush occupied the territory and existed in pseudo freindship/conflict with Egypt.
