It's more than just a website. Think about it... for the most part, people ask questions that they really want opinions on. Some of those questions are on sensitive topics such as, love, marriage, birth, abortion, religion, politics... well, you get the picture. Those topics make people really emotional! And most people will tell you how they feel since this is an open forum. I just wish that Yahoo had a system in place to make comments on a persons comment! Some of those comments are really, well, emotional! But we are all here aren't we, because in one way or another we have something to say? á¦â¥á¦â¥á¦

I haven't encountered much but I guess it is because the internet provides security in a way that who on earth can see who is really typing? More freedom to be mean, emotional, judgmental among many other things. It is just the internet you said, or a website, why let any kind of people bother you so much at all?

You have so many answers on here I wasn't going to bother, but one of the answers rattled my cage a little from 'Jay' who said - some people need to lighten up? - why do they need to, is it because 'Jay' said they do?!! I don't think so. We are all unique beings so trying to make other people feel the way we do, or question and answer the way we do doesn't work. allow people the freedom you would choose, if they want to be uptight let them, if they want to be serious let them, or humorous or emotional let them - this it's their world too and their Internet and their website. Sometimes frustration at not making people see things through your own eyes causes emotion.

I have never found that people get over emotional. It's not just a website you get to influence decisions other people make. I have used some of the advice that people have given on Y!A.

I believe some people want answers to questions they are afraid to ask someone in their real world, especially mental health issues. And then there are some people who like to just fun on this website. I love those questions too! And then there are some that reek hatred thru cyperspace because they are fricken cowards who know in real life they couldn't ever say it to our faces! I like the palethera (big word, huh?) of people, idea, answers, questions, emotions, yada, yada, yada. Because,.......... ..some times I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't!

Because some of the typical social niceties and constraints don't "come along online" with some people, they aren't themselves here, but a construct of possibly who they wish they were, and at times that construct can be of a sensitive and delicately adjusted nature.
For reference: Online the song by Brad Paisley

sometimes people hit a nerve
i have a pretty good sense of humor, but every once in awhile somebody just says the wrong thing...and well it bugs me...it may be the internet but they're still real people....
One time a guy said "why would a single guy with no kids ever date a girl with kids, i think a guy deserves better than a girl who's already had kids with someone else" i'm a widow...it pissed me off

Because all people here are strangers. Nobody can hurt or criticize them...it's a "no identity, no commitment" thing. They dare say and ask things, they wouldn't under other circumstances.

I can't BELIEVE you would be so flippant about someones emotions! How dare you treat all of us like the questions don't matter, like these aren't important issues in our lives?
"Why won't my hemmorhoid stop bleeding?" This woman's having a baby! It's an emotional time for her, she's full of hormones!
"Why is there a bump in my kitten's mouth?" This girl is worried she's become a failure at protecting her pet!
"Why did my husband get a tattoo of a rainbow on his forehead?" This woman is a disgusting slob that turned her husband fey, and doesn't know why!
