Iran, and their pursuit of the bomb, has absolutely nothing to do with a desire to attack the U.S. The claim of such is just fear mongering that will be used as a justification if the U.S. decides to attack Iran.

Iran and the bomb is about a battle for regional hegemony, whereby Iran want to remain a major player in that region. Israel has the bomb. India has the bomb. Pakistan has the bomb. The conflict has far, far less to do with religious ideology than it has to do with plain old geo-political posturing.
