Good question. Man opt to live a wealthy life to meet the humans needs in life. It is a necessity of every individual especially these times of hardships. Equal access to all the needs makes your life a comfort. I believe this is a practical desire of every individual. For after all we want happiness in life. Although material as they but it is also a need to full yourself with spirituality. Such wealth makes you easier to help other people in need. I certainly believe that your life is much easier and content if you opt for it. There is nothing wrong as long as you use it in good ways.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

Mmmm.... Sophia comes from the Greek word which means, "Wisdom.."

Why does humankind opt for a wealthy lifestyle? Well according to Buddhism, the life of all sentient beings - not just human beings, is a continuum of suffering... So, would you rather "suffer" hungry, cold, sleeping on a hard pavement? or suffer in the comfort of a feather bed, imbibing champagne and gorging on caviar?

well it always depends on the person.
i know that many people are afraid of living a life where you actually have to budget your money and wait to buy something until there is money in the bank
people are materialistic, i know because i personally struggled for a while on choosing a career because i wanted a job that would give me everything i wanted. I ended up choosing to go to art school even though i know i wont make so much money when i graduate....
there just aren't enough people that want to live a happy life as opposed to a wealthy one... everyone chooses wealth, its quite a bugger if you ask me...

Sophia, from Sophie, the goddess of wisdom. Apropros.

Men need to live by faith, knowing that his God provides all. The master said "seek first the kingdom, and all things will be added to your life" But men are fearful and doubtful, so they seek security in temporal things, and believe more is better. Off they go building wordly treasures seeking greater wealth out of fear and doubt, never having enough. Sometimes the desire is rooted in power, since money on this world is a cornerstone of power. Sometimes it's vanity, "hey, look at me" It's good to have nice things, but when they own you, it's an invitation for trouble.

because they can afford to but there are many other things to consider, whether they are letting the wealthy life take the place of love - bad - honestly earning the money and sharing it with a spouse - not always bad - or getting it by being elected to a political office somewhere and getting the money from those who put him into office - very bad!!

Beats opting to live a poor one. But money isn't the be-all to end-all many think it is. Love is so much more important there's no comparison.

If a choice is to be made between A (to be poor) and B (to be wealthy), do you think many people will scramble to line up at A?

Your question then is a rhetorical question, meaning who will want to become poor?

okay, I'm not certain whether or not you are referring to the human race of men, or the male gender.
but women are equally as ambitious in this way, and it is because of society succumbing to the greed of destructive human nature.

Because they don't have stronger values to live for. Like intellectual pursuits, love, equality etc....
