like scream for me was a great horror movie!! bring back the days when it was just some innocent kids who noone knew instead of porn stars who are just in the film to get their junk out!! horror films should be about scaring you a bit thats the fun of it!! i mean does anyone really want to see all this gore!! gore is not scary its disgusting and makes me feel sick!! someone bring back the classic horror dfilms that actually scare you??

Barely any gore, but really scary!

You are right. Gore cannot replace the 'scariness' of a clean horror film. It would be really scary and interesting if a horror film has good characterisation, everyday - regular location, normal looking people and a sinister ghostly presence (which you can't see) within all this normality.

I completely agree with you - I think that the older films were scarier because they left something to your imagination. The special gory effects are never as scary as what you picture yourself.
'Psycho' is my favorite horror film. In the shower scene, Hitchcock never actually showed the knife touching the body - it was all implied with the montage which to me is the best kind of filmmaking.

I agree, they shouldn't be called scary movies but something like gore movies or something, we need some new genre types so we can start to seperate the movies.

Slasher films are passe!! they have no plot and no real acting! i concider them "C" movies last a couple weeks then off to DVD land..
Old movie like Dracula(Legosi) Frankenstein(Karlof) had carater...
