Also, do they have to claim their tips? Are they paid hourly also? Or do their tips count for their salary?

Having worked security at several clubs, I'll tell ya what I saw. Good dancers could make upwards of $1500 a night. Bad ones,, less than $100. Depends on the club, the night, whether or not the girl has any regulars,(guys who only go there to see her.), the music, (a good d.j. matches the tunes to the crowds mood.). Also, not to be sexist, but the better looking the girl is, obviously, the more cash she makes. Bigger is not always better. I've worked in clubs where the girls get a pittance of a wage in addition to tips. I've also seen ones where the girl has to pay the bar "rent" for use of the stage. No hourly at all. These are usually the bigger money clubs, so it's o.k. They also tip the d.j. for a good job, the bouncers for keeping them safe, and the bartenders for getting the guys good and loaded. Then they are supposed to claim a certain percent for the government, although I never knew one that did. The biggest money is in the private dances. 20 to 40 dollars a song, depending on where you are.

You've been getting a couple of answers from dancers, and I can't argue with them, but the clubs that I have gone into, the dancers did not make very much money. More than minimum wage, but not the $300-$500 a night you usually hear about. Figure that a dancer can get paid about ten dollars from stage tips during her dance (which would probably come every hour or so), and somewhere between $5-$20 for a personal dance, (which on most nights would probably be less than one dance every hour.) The dancer might also make money from the drinks customers buy her, (I'm not sure how much they could make.) Also, remember that dancers don't necessarily keep good financial records. While many people know someone who claimed to make a lot of money as a dancer, you still don't see a lot of Infiniti QX56's in the employee parking lot. The advantage to stripping is tax free income (sometimes), and a daily payday.

What Bubbles said is true.

In the Midwest you'd be pushed hard to make over $200 a night but there's always the private parties. But you AREN'T looked at as a person to respect, unfortunately. The guys don't cut any slack on that one.

You have to play it safe with entering and leaving also, as there's lots of pervs who will stake out the parking lot waiting to 'talk' to you.

Tips are where the money is, the salary is nominal, just like waitressing. You're supposed to declare ALL tips as income and be taxed on it. I don't know if the job description comes with any red flags with the IRS, but it's something you may want to check out before going in all the way.

A very good friend of mine danced for about two years in a middle of no-where club. She made good money but if you ask her today if it was worth it and she will tell you no. Not a single guy she met in that club treated her like a person. Anyone that knew what she did for a living treated her like a whore (even though she had only one sexual relationship the whole time she worked there). She to this day hasn't been able to develop very many female relationships because most don't approve of what she did for a living.

Now if you think about it none of that is fair. But life just ain't fair. If you want to really screw up your life for some quick cash...go ahead.

Honestly...how many decent guys are you going to date/marry knowing what you do? My man doesn't drink, he doesn't frequent bars, he likes being with me and our kids, he has never liked going to strip clubs. I don't think most men that make great fathers and husbands really approve of strip clubs. Honestly. And how embarrassing. And one day you have to say, Oh yea, baby mommy takes her clothes off to turn on degenerates for a living. How pathetic most of the men are that go to those places. They really are focusing on the wrong parts of life.

It's cool to think men believe you,re sexy...but it hurts when most of them think you're a slut and they don't even know you. Don't do it.

Work hard and do something with your life you really can be proud of. Do something that helps society, yourself, and any future family you have.
