John McEnroe has appeared in several films - Anger Management, Mr. Deeds (I guess he's friends with Adam Sandler) and Wimbledon. Wimbledon also had Chris Evert.
Plus, there's Andy Roddick hosting SNL, which is the only example I can think of regarding a tennis player portraying anything other than himself.

Serena Williams has done a commercial for HP and also made a few television appearances, one of the last ones was on ER about 2 years ago.
I know she was supposed to be in a role in a film but can't remember the name of it right now.

ashok though talented in tennis took to film making early in his career iteself. he has made many films in hollywood. he had made JEANS starring aishwarya rai and prashanth. he has also made OCTOPUSSY an english film.
