about eating only Halal meats or will you venture away from this? Let's say you are visiting the U.S. and there are not too many Halal shops and you are starving, will you eat non-halal at Red Lobster, or whatever restaurant you like. I have eaten halal and it tastes the same as non-halal but I bought a salad to my friend and the meat was ordinary and he refused to eat it.

I like all of the answers. Hasafer, I agree with you about not eating pork. It is forbidden in Christianity and Judaism as well.

Well I am from America and the as a muslim you must eat halal, as Jews must eat Kosher food.
Halal food? As a muslim we must eat halal. halal, means that when you slaughter the animal, we say something, called the shahada and then slaughter but it must be done by a muslim. My dad owns a live halal slaughter house and he sells halal meat there must be muslim people to do it so it can be hahal, and I think jews to , you guys before you slaughter something you must say something and it must be done by a jew, many jews come to my dads store and before they slaughter anything they must get a rabbi to say something before slaughtering it so that it can be kosher. If around the muslim people there are halal places, then Allah(S.W) commands us to eat halal. But say if there are no halal places around at all, and there no place for you to get halal food then our G-d gives us the chance to eat food even if it is not halal. And if there is no halal food then we can eat kosher food, my family is very strict about eating halal food and so are most of the muslims, and sometimes we might eat kosher food. You guys make the best falafel too.
But its ok to eat seafood, I go to Red Lobster, and if you order fish its ok, because you cant really slaughter it or do anythng, its just fish. So its ok to eat fish.
I hope my answer helped, if you have a certain question you can edit and I will return to this question to see if you want me to specify something else.
PEACE!!

I wouldn't eat non halal meats at all even if i am starving (lots of vegetables are available and not eating meat will not kill me!)
Please correct me if i am wrong... the word halal is not only when saying the shahada ala el meat it's also about the way you killed the animal (we used to live in France for 5 years) and we used to eat meat from the jewish district (jewish dont' say shahada but they "yedba7ou" and this is the halal way I think)
