For tour Duns river obviously will be on your list of places, also White river tubing which your set to float down stream in a tube, which there is alot of scenic views, also try mounain biking excurtions which will take you on a journy through rural St Ann down hill on mountain bikes, you can also check out Dolphine cove and swim with these fantasic creatures.
Shopping – Striking a Deal

[Shopping is an interesting experience in Ocho Rios because of the high level of tourism. Vendors are highly aggressive but utterly polite, and the attitude of “no problem, mon” is prevalent. When approached by a vendor, if you aren’t interested simply refuse politely say [ ''no'' ] and continue shopping without fear of reprisal].

If you're going to OR, there's a Margaritaville literally next to the port [a 5-minute walk - but you'll still get hounded by locals trying to sell you stuff]. It's a good place to hang out. They have a pool, hot tub, beach [no vendors allowed], etc. If you buy a drink [soda or whatever] you get a wristband to be able to use the trampoline in the water, etc. There are little shops there, too, where you can get the usual stuff without the hassle of town.

DRF is nice. If you don't want to actually climb the falls, there is a wooden stairway next to it. When you leave, go back down to the entrance [even though they might tell you you can't], and you'll avoid the very aggressive vendors at the exit.

If you're feeling very adventurous you can do the tubing on the White River [getting there is an adventure in itself!], but I'd only book it through the ship, even if you can do it on your own. Things can [and recently have] gone wrong in OR even on ship's tours.

A good source for info on all your ports is CruiseCritic.com. Go to the top of the page and click on "Boards".

Have fun!

Dunns River, Rafting/Tubing down the river, Dolphin Cove and of course the beach. And Margaritaville is in Ocho Rios at Island Village Mall.

Definitively Dunn river's falls and margaritaville like everyone else said.. but if you like animals there is also the dolphin cove where you can swim with the dolphins... if you never done it its quite an experience. My favorite sport in ochie is a road called fern gully. (its 2 minutes drive away form the cruise terminal) I think it was a river bed it goes trough the mountain. The vegetation there is so thick that in most places you can’t see the sky and light don’t pass trough... very spectacular

I went there last year. ISLAND VILLAGE is a must!
Shops, reggae /ska museum, bars, restaurants etc.
There is also a good shopping centre (souvenirs etc) just down the road,
I also went to Walkers Spice factory (very interesting) and a pottery.

Lovely place, but of course we weren't shown any ghettos.

Other people on cruise went to Dunns river falls and found it disappointing

You've got to go to Dunn's River Falls, if you get a chance to get to the other side of the Island go to Montego Bay. "Margaritaville"
