Something in my heart tells me that there is no such thing. So I'm leaning, but I cannot be certain. My life has been very unique, and given the nature of it, I really question whether or not all things are predestined. I don't know whether or not fate exists, but I don't really believe it does.
I DO believe, however, that if i did, I wouldn't have done half the things that I've done, and wouldn't have lived the life that I have, or been nearly as happy as I am.
So, what more can I say. I don't really believe in it.... deep down, I just don't buy it.

To properly answer this question philosophically we need to distinguish first between the two main definitions of the word believe; believe in, and believe that. For example almost every American "believes that" George Bush is the President, but statistically only about 20-30 percent "believe in" as President. Thus you question about believing "in" fate it would only make sense to answer yes if "believed that" fate existed and you liked it. Someone could "believe that" fate exists and hate it, they would not "believe in" fate however. Personally I believe that there is a mix of fate and free will. I can choose to de certain things but somuch of my life is determined by virtue of my gender, socioeconomic status, race, location, etc.

I think fate is my destiny, destiny is my fate...
As someone with a scientific mind I like to think "we" do all exert some control over our own lives and what happens to us. But there ARE things which happen for no apparent reason. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time... some things are beyond our control. Sometimes what will be will be and there is not a lot you can do about it.

I think there are things we DO have "control" over and CAN influence to some level... but there will always be things that seem random and just down to things like "like" "fate" and "destiny."

I don't think that bad things only happen to the bad people who deserve to have bad things happen to them. And many a time you just have to muddle along and make the most of a bad situation....

I understand that is only fair to say that I believe in fate not fully but only to some extent. But when we say this we deny the fixed nature of the concept, the vary attribute that makes the concept of fate in our understanding what it is, an inevitable preset events or preordained sequence of events, and that we are merely helpless beings just like parts in a machine.

I do not believe in fate as such, but I know that I can stand on both of my legs, upon just one leg but I can never lift both of y legs in the air without having to rest upon something for support. This is the fact about life, that we are part independent and part free. It is just like a river where in its waters it is free to form into eddies, rapids and currents but cannot leave the containment of its course.

On the other lets suppose that I believe in fate absolutely; I believe that whatever I do is in fact what I was to do anyway, i.e. if I go out then the people I meet the places I visit the sights I see are all as it was to take place in my destiny set since the dawn of time. If this is the case then could I take away from my mind and from my heart their essential capacity and desire or wish that things were better in my life, that I had met with better people, gone to better places, and done better things? And this essentially human capacity that expresses that I retain and express in so many numerous and wonderful ways is my reason for not fully believing in fate.

We are not full independent, but to be more independent we have to be stronger. It is just that we are knitted interdependently into our world, that while we influence others by the power of our thoughts, ideas, and actions, we ourselves get influenced by the power of countless other things around us. And finally this is say that if there is fate then it is not imposed or ordained, it is in a state of constant flux like the water of a river, and it so then I see that I am part of it, that my actions determine what fate is to unfold onto life around me.

I believe in fate but what you do in any given set of circumstances provided by fate is down to your personality

We all are human beings and all have our own fate, but with our hard work, dedication and devotion we can change bad fate into good fate, I personally believe in "Karma" i.e work (that benefits the humanity and mankind..to make this world a brighter happier place to live ).
