If you're tutoring in Japan, you can earn a LOT. Parents in Japan are usually very serious about their childs education and it can be competitive. I've seen where you can get paid as little as $25 an hour and up to $60 or more an hour.

In japan, tutoring is a big business. There are a lot of tutors that provide "cram" learning. So how much can you earn? To be honest with you, it really depends on a couple of factors. For example, what credentials you have. Also, it depends on the area you are located in. If it's in a bigger city then you can expect higher rates since there will be more people who require tutoring services (the old supply and demand theory!). If you teach in a more affluent neighborhood, you could charge more. If you want to know what other private tutors are charging, go to sites where many tutors & retired teachers hang out: http://www.tuitionplaza.com/tutoring/
