Both are good and Youkilis is going to get at least 1 start at coors field but you figure ortiz is a more clutch hitter& has been consistent all yr round, althought youk started hot then stunk and now he's hot again, and mikey lowell has been even more consistent than ortiz and he's played a lot more than either of the 2 in coors field so he has the experience, i support francona's decision

I'm not so sure. Ortiz is killer in the post season, so I can see the reasoning, but Youklis is destroying the ball. He's better defensively and much less a liability on the bases. I don't think it will kill the Sox, but I'd go with the hotter hand. We'll see.

Terry Francona knows what he is doing. I can just see David Ortiz as he crushes a few long taters high into the Colorado thin air and out of the park. Why they will write songs and poems about it !! People will Say for years to come "remember the night big Papi hit the ball so far it landed on the moon and bounced to Mars"

Big Papi does need the rest ,but he is a weapon.I don't understand why the big deal over this anyways.I mean they can put a pinch hitter in any time they want,so correct me if I'm wrong ,but two of them could play and end up with 2 0r 3 at bats per game. Its going to be loud there and I hope that whoever plays brings some ear plugs,If the Rockies get an Early lead it could be a long night.

Unfortunately it's probably the only thing to do...unless you wanna move Drew to center, benching Ellsbury and putting Youkilis in right. But I don't think Youk has much experience out there. He'll be a good pinch-hitter or a late-inning defensive replacement.
You can't bench Ortiz or Lowell.

I would guess that the Sox are betting that Ortiz bat will more than compensate for the lack of defensive skills at first. Remember, no DH in National League parks.

Ortiz played first base last time they were in the series. He had to work extra hard to keep up out there. But he hit like crazy. I'm sure if he's in a slump, Francona will switch it up.

As much as I like Ortiz, I think that he should be out for this game and youk in. Because of his bad knee he won't be able to maneavor a lot and it's not like youkilis wasn't hitting the ball either ya know. But who knows hopefully it's the right choice

It's a horrible decision . World Series are won [and lost ] by pitching and defense and I think that having Ortiz playing first surrenders way too much defense for a small if any gain in offense.

Very rarely do I disagree with Tito, but this one is just plain crazy to me! I thnk David Ortiz needs some rest, his knee has been bad lately, and he needs some rest. Youk has been delivering in all aspects of the game and I really don't think we would lose much if anything by starting him. If Ortiz was rested, should we need to come back to Fenway (which I'm not so sure will happen) he would be of more use with the rest.
