It is a bronze colored metal material, on one side there is a head with a word around the edge that starts with an "S" and the word has 7-9 letters long, and on the other side there is a figure of a woman and on one side of the woman there is a letter "S" and on the other side of the woman there is a letter "C." There is a word around the edge of the coin, all I can tell is starting from her feet, going clockwise, I can see the letters "CLE." The coin looks like it may be handmade. It is thicker than a typical coin.

It sounds like a Roman bronze coin. There are a lot of people on their coinage that have a name beginning with an S. The large letters on either side of the figure mean by authority of the Senate. If it is large and thick it could be one of the following denominations, As, Dupondus or Sestertius. Try using a soft tooth brush to see if you can make more of the letters out. Take your time and brush easy. Sorry this is the best I can do without seeing the coin.
