Americans don't want to reform the world. Only Mr. Bush does, and he only wants to reform the countries that have oil.

I see you knew little about John Kennedy. Not what most think he was.

The USA is in a very bad position and there is no real answer to it. If we do something about real problems we are evil intruders. If we leave them alone and let them just mess up everything for themselves then we are evil for not helping.

I definately would like the USA to leave the Africans alone to kill eachother and help reduce the population problem. If they want to fight then let them. If they want to learn and develope then fine and dandy.

It is not the USA that is the problem. Most of it comes from people not being able to get along with their neighbors. The USA does get along with its neighbors and have for a very long time. Look arund you and honestly look at who is doing what.

Iraq I will agree with that one should have been done different. The European Members of the UN would not agree to do what they promised to do after the first gulf war. Again so much of europe just sitting back and letting others do their jobs. When it ends in trouble then they come ctying to us Americans as you call us.

America, USA is made up of fifty states very similar to the states in europe. Each of the united states does have a consideral amount of autonomy. More so than what the EU is allowing their members to have. All fifty states do get along and work together. We can travel all of them with no problems at all.

Learn the truth and you will be much better for it.

No the USA is not perfict. We are a hell of a lot closer than most nations are.

It might have something to do with not having people ram planes into our skyscrapers or it might have something to do with not standing by watching people be enslaved.

I am glad you were not around during Lincolns time, there would till be slaves because you would not want to disagree with someones elses values.

Just for your information JFK started the Vietnam War; that was the war we lost because leftists snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Also on JFK; perhaps you have never heard of the Cuban Missile Crisis; JFK blockaded Cuba and forced the USSR to remove nukes.

In addition; he tried on numerous occasions to assassinate Castro, sorry he failed.

To top it off; he trained free Cubans to invade their island then pulled air support at the last minute, see the Bay of Pigs.

Learn a little history before you open your mouth again.

Reform in the traditional American sense usually means the slaughter of thousands of people who are merely fighting (but mostly passively resisting) for their own self-determination. Heaven forbid that a nation should ever want to excerise sovereignty!! America is an empire. Not in the old sense of the world like Rome or England. It is an empire by proxy. It doesnt steal natural resources from 3rd world countries it just gets them at super discounted prices. If you had a bunch of people - say someone like Hugo Chavez who decided that he didnt want his country being pillaged by outside influences - you could imagine why america would want to 'reform' latin america. Yet america sets up ridiculous tariffs to protect its own local industries...i wonder why people have such a poor opinion of...

America is loosing Moral high ground as they are busily Taking Free Speech From American Citizens. No, it is not True Democracy any more...Congress proved that when they refused to Close the Borders and Observe the Rule of Law on Illegal Immigration Issues. What makes us any different from those countries you mention? Free Speech is one of the Primary Pillars of Democracy.

It's not America's intention to reform the world rather to maintain peace. If there's peace in the world, America is safe. Any weapon of mass destruction in the hands of a bad leader is a threat to world peace. That's why America is vehemently against Iran acquiring or developing nuclear weapon as she did with North Korea. If you allow Osama Bin Laden to acquire this weapon, America will soon be on the road to destruction.

To be honest, not all Americans want to reform the world. There are alot of us that would be more than happy to visit other countries and learn about their cultures, their beliefs and their way of life as well as their countrysides....without trying to change things at all. Some of us do not like the idea of becoming the worlds "police force" (I believe that is the UN's job) and wish that our government would keep their noses out of the politics of other countries....

Please do not judge us all by what you see and hear on the TV news. We are not all bible-thumping, self-righteous, egocentric idiots...like our President. Americans for the most part are really nice, thoughtful, compassionate, active, people just trying to make a living and raise great kids.

I don't want to reform the world, and I am an American. However, there are parts of the world where being "reformed" would be a good idea - North Korea, China, Darfur... the list goes on, but I hope you get the point: some places NEED to be "reformed", and it doesn't have to be Americanized reform - just improvements.

I don't think they want to reform the world. On the whole I share American values and I support reform of parts of the world that I consider to be barbaric and threatening. If that's the side effect of America's real foreign policy objective then I support it.
The American's real objective though in my opinion is American economic supremacy and national security through domination of other countries. Since the start of the 20th Century America I think America has pursued a policy of security through domination.

By and large, I don't think the American people want to do this.

It's the neo conservatives who are running the country who want to impose their vision of democracy, unregulated capitalism and unquestioning support of Israel on the rest of the world.

Here is a statement by these guys, circa 1997. They're the group that took control in 2001.
