I had it saved on my computer in color and did some changes, and basically turned it into a B&W. I would like to restore it to its original color. Is it possible, and how?

Its very hard, and would be a lot easier to restore it from the original if possible.

Simple and blunt - You Can't

But

In the future when you are editing a picture, Never, Never Never Never, save the changes you make onto the original picture file.

Lets say you are working on a camera file DSC_0001.jpg

You do a few changes in color or sharpening and now you want to save the changes.

You click ' Save As ' instead of save and adjust the file name accordingly in the same folder to DSC_001_01.jpg

That indicates to you the original file name and that this is your 1st adjustment. Next adjustment could be DSC_001_02.jpg

You never loose your picture and you have a time-line of the changes good or bad.

Have the picture printed in black and white on a matte finish. Then buy a product from Zig called "photo twin" (can get it online or at a scrapbook store, or at a photographer) and make sure you also get the softener pen (sold separately). Scribble on the softener in a circular motion (small bits at a time) and then color that spot with the photo twin marker (color of your choice), and work out in small circles. It looks wonderful, but it is easy to overdo the colors. So I would recommend the natural hues (which are pastel looking). Have fun. Oh, and the pens market for about $25 for the set of six colors (and there are two different groups to choose from). And the softener pen is about $5. They are double tipped with fine and large brushes. They dry out very easy, so make sure that you put the cap on very tightly! Glossy photos don't hold the color...it has to be matte finish! Also, this is totally fun! Print out color, and print out black and white. Cut the peice out that you want colored (from the color photo). Then take double stick foam tape, and stick it on the black and white photo. The color pops so well!

I don't think it is possible.

See if you have another copy of the file somewhere. Is it still on the camera's memory card? Did anyone else save a copy?

If not, color it in the best you can.

In the future, never make changes to your only copy of a picture. If you want to do anything to it, copy the file first.

There is no way without being an artist and coloring it.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

simple answer, you cant. not unless you used the save as option, otherwise it overwrites the original.

ALWAYS use save as... that way, when this happens you always have the original to go back to.

i use the original filename and add A,B,C,D dependent on which stage im at. that way you can always track teh original.
