I made some calculations using MATLAB but I am not quite sure what the result

NaN -1.2838e+045i

means. Is it -1.2838^(45i) or something else?

Ignore the NaN part.

It's ok if it is complex or imaginary. I am not sure about 045 number.

-1.2838 * 10^45 * i
i is the imaginary unit

Ivan is right
the number is

-1.2838 * 10^45 * i

Matlab wouldn't write a number like -1.2838^(45i).
The NaN means "not a number" it happens when you do calculations with non numeric variables or when the result is undetermined.
for example, if you put 1/0, you'll find Inf (infinite), but if you put 0/0, you'll find NaN, because it's not determined.

NaN means 'Not a Number' - this usually means that your calculation did a divide-by-zero or something equally stupid. The other one means -1.28* 10**45 - which is probably Matlab's best approxmation of "divided by something almost but not quite zero, resulting in a huge number".

Not sure, in math the "i" usually refers to the square root of -1, an imaginary number used in higher math. It would help to know what you are calculating?

Would you like fries with that? Guess if I fail as a mathematician there's always the fast food industry. ,-)
