Many cell phone carriers are beginning to disable the Bluetooth function that serves to transfer music or other files from phone to phone.

Why?

Most carriers are now in the business of selling music downloads, like iTunes on a cell phone. They want you to pay them to download music.

Secondly, transferring music from one person to another without compensating the writers and performers of the music is piracy. Musicians' gourps can and ARE suing people who insist on passing music files around from one PC user to another. One woman was sued for transferring 24 songs from her computer and lost nearly a quarter of a million dollars. Cell phone companies know this, and they do not want to be named in the "next" round of lawsuits.

Here's a quote:

"We've been telling people for a long time that file sharing copyrighted music is illegal, that you are not anonymous when you do it, and that engaging in it can have real consequences," said Sherman. "And the message is beginning to be heard. More and more P2P users are realizing that there are dozens of legal ways to get music online, and they are beginning to migrate to legitimate services. We hope to encourage even the worst offenders to change their behavior, and acquire the music they want through legal means."

choco makes a great logical point. plus you have to know wht the phone can do. in the bluetooth world, theres diffrent profiles; theses profile determin wht the phone can do. your phone does not support file transfer profile. most phones support the Headset (HSP) and Handsfree (HFP) profiles, for connecting the phones to headsets and car kits, respectively.
