It should be obvious that the Turks want "someone" to rein in the terrorist activities that emanate from the Kurdish region of Iraq. They'd prefer not to do it themselves and operating against a small guerrilla force in their home mountains is a daunting task for any conventional army.
On the other hand, what right does the U.S. ( or anyone ) have to expect terrorists to operate out of sanctuaries in neighboring countries without those countries being held responsible?
The Turks, however, don't have "clean hands" in this regard since they seem to allow some terrorist activity to operate OUT of their land into Iraq. An agreement might be to have them cease such activities and lean on the Iraqi Kurds to rein in the PKK ( and, perhaps, also looking the other way when the Turks make hot pursuit of the PKK into Iraq ).

a regional war? no -- more like a police action to secure the border since the Iraq government is incapable of doing it. The U.S. did it when Pancho Villa raided New Mexico we sent soldiers across the border.

I'm sorry; this happens to be one of my humor days , and I can not think in critical terms. They should be satisfied with the present spelling of their name, if they should war with each other, one of them may loose the first letter in their name and if those letters get switched around; well we can all laugh about how the ( Turds & Kurks) got together for peace talks.
