My home town (Watford) is twinned with some 'lovelies': Mainz, Nanterre and Novgorod. Generation X concrete jungles.

My town is twinned with Blain in France. The only reason I can think they bothered doing this is so the twinning associations get free holidays. It has absolutely no effect whatsoever on the rest of us (except maybe a hike in the rates to help pay for the bonhomie).
