All house records are open to the public.
you can go check the address at your local land transfer office and see who the owners are and when it was sold the last time.
Or check the MLS listings for the most recent sold houses in your area.

In my state, the county register of deeds has a grantor index. This enables you to search for all properties a person has sold in a particular county.
