djnight makes an excellent point regarding resume, but here is my tip:
getting a job at Starbuck's is not that easy.
They prefer someone with some barista training/experience and also they try to hire more mature personalities that appeal ot their clientele. (they have wealthier, older customers than a fast food chain and have better customer service)
If you do not get hired, try going to an easier coffee hire, like Caribou. Put in 6 months there and tehn try to switch over again. That worked for my girlfriend. (although she always says that the bosses were nicer and easier going at Caribou than SB)

I have not worked at either one. I think you are old enough to work at Starbucks. You will say the same things about alot of jobs. When it comes to jobs not treating their employees well, Walmart is at the top of the list!

I never worked at McDonalds, but I do LOVE my job at Starbucks. It's a lot to learn at first, but so worth it. You get health benefits for only working 20 hrs. a week AND tuition reimbursement if you want to go to school while you work.

And in response to Dawn, you don't ned barista experience! They know they are going to have to train you, and they take a lot of time and pride in training you right.

Don't think about the job you're getting now, think about the ones you want to be working two or five years from now. To most employers I can think of, Starbucks is going to look better on a resume--especially if you can sail into one of the assistant managing jobs inside a year.

I think they do hire minors, yeah jump off the McJob as soon as you can. Starbucks will probably get pretty hecktic as well, but it seems like it would be a breath of fresh air next to McDonalds. Bless your heart.

I'd much rather work in Starbucks!
All of the greasy food in McDonalds makes me sick.

xoxo.

Starbucks... it has great benefits and good tips, I hear.
There is room for advancement and people think it's cool when you say "I'm a barrista". It is alot to learn and a lot of hard work BUT anything worth having is going to be hard work. Good luck!
