Charlie Wrangle D, NY proposed a minor tax increase for the rich that have incomes of $200K or more, its a very slight increase. I believe as much money they have the rich can still live a normal life just like the rest of us even if half or their money is paid in taxes.

Sure they should. But, when I win that big lotto jackpot, then I will change my mind.

Everyone should pay their fair share of the cost of government. The wealthy should pay more the the average Joe since they have benefited more from our system. The amount should be reasonable and not onerous.

But!!!!!! The tax system we have is onerous. It is so complicated because our legislators want to be able to grant favors by exempting some income. So it always seem unfair since we can't see that it is spread fairly. Any tax reform they talk about is to grant more friends and contributors favors. We need to recognize that the legislators are working for their contributors not for the people. And that is both parties!

No, no, and again I say no!! I mean, yes, the rich should pay their 'fair share' of taxes. But why is it that their 'fair share' is different than my 'fair share'? Am I not as important a citizen? Does my money not count? (I am not wealthy, not even middle class, really). No, I don't mean to say that the gov't should take more of my money, but in taxing people differently, the gov't is discriminating. Also, there is no reason that someone who has worked hard and risen to the top of their profession should have to give me money! I know several wealthy people who are quite generous naturally. They give and give and give. Why not allow them to give, rather than taxing them to death so the gov't can pay someone to dole out their money for them? It doesn't make sense to me. But then, the income tax really doesn't make sense either. The income tax punishes people for working and earning money. It punishes people even more when they study hard and excel in whatever they do. Seems to me like the very definition of 'unfair'. The income tax punishes the small-business owner who has grown to the point where he can hire employees, and give people jobs. I don't think you should pay a higher percentage because you excel, and earn a lot of money.
And another note. Much of the tax is used for social programs. I do not know Bill Gates, or Oprah, or Tom Cruise, or Al Gore. Why on earth should any of them be forced by the gov't to be responsible for my children, my healthcare, my housing, or my ability to buy food? Those things are MY problems, and I need to deal with them as a responsible adult.
Besides, I hope to one day be one of those people who has excelled due to hard work and clawing my way to the top. I spent years being poor - I want to responsibly choose how to 'spend' my reward once I get there, don't you?

as long as wealth maintains to be focused in few and much less palms, the tax gadget isn't honest. the probabilities of belongings (earnings after a 12 months) in the palms of center (forty-60% of gross earnings families) to economically properly off people 60-80% of gross earnings) could desire to advance or no less than stay the comparable, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's shrinking and the richest 10% is growing to be.

You hit the nail right on the head! I completely agree. Do remember they worked hard to also to get where they are today, but I do feel they should fair share in taxes. I am sure they could live off of what my hubby and I bring in, but they would consider my living status as poor and unacceptable because some of them, not all, but some are way to spoiled with their luxeries.

Yes I think they should... and guess what? They ALREADY DO!!!!!

What percentage do you think the wealthy should pay...?

What ever number you come up with.... add 5%. This is the number the Dems WANT them to pay. They... repreat the question.

I guess the correct answer is: What is the amount the wealthy are willing to pay before they stop what they're doing to be wealthy, (Ending your employment) and simply enjoy the money they have already aquired (Beyond taxation) and simply enjoy life?

Yes - and the top 10% of earners already pay aboiut 2/3 of the total tax collected, so it seems to me they already do pay their fair share.

Yes they should. The issue is in trying to define what "fair share" is.

Yes they should, since rich people own the majority of the world's wealth. They can do without some money...
