Say there was a god, why would he go to all this trouble to give us a choice in whether we behave or act naughty? Do you think it's possible that he wouldn't be as powerful as he says?

And what if God is just a lyer?

The first thing is to get an understanding of the word “perfect.” Most people have an “imperfect” understanding of the word perfect. Something is “perfect” according to, or in relation to, the purpose or end for which it is appointed by its designer or producer, or the use to which it is to be put by its receiver or user.” A floor-length gown is perfect for a wedding but not for swimwear. A one-piece bathing suit is perfect for the beach but not for the office. Human perfection is relative. Only God is perfect in the absolute sense.

Having said that, God created humans perfect – that is to say, when he was done, they were perfect according to the purpose for which they were appointed by Him as their designer. What purpose was that? To live forever in perfect human bodies in peace and security on a paradise earth bringing forth children who would do the same. Thus, in their relative perfection, Adam and Eve could not fly. Neither could they jump off an 80-story cliff and expect to live. Neither could they eat nothing but dirt and expect to live. And neither could they disobey God and expect to live forever. God pointedly told them that. Being their creator and life-giver, he had every right.

As for why God would "go to all this trouble to give us a choice" in being naughty or not, that is a fairly perceptive way of putting it. He did go to a lot of trouble for us, beginning with his creation of this gorgeous home we call earth. That showed that he cares very much. Think about this for a moment: we either have free will or we do not. It does not come in degrees. We make literally hundreds of thousands of choices every single day of our lives. If we lacked free will, we could not. Now suppose we lacked free will. Suppose the part in our hair, the color of our shoes, the hand with which we steer our car, the movie we go to see, the movie that is produced for us to go to see, the way we cut our steak, the steak we buy, the names we give our children, those with whom we fall in love, those we ask to marry, the jobs we choose, the music we play, the countries we visit, the television programs we watch. . . suppose all these millions of choices were made for us so that we had absolutely no say in the matter. How would that be? We would be robotic in all things. Free will is a wondrous gift – it means the ability to choose. This is no less so when it comes to obedience to the Creator. Of necessity then, the ability to choose opens up two paths from which to choose– obedience or disobedience.

Perhaps them people have a problem with why God is allowing suffering and wickedness to continue. Some feel “Well, there wouldn’t be wickedness if God hadn’t created it.” That needs a bit of clarification: If God had not created free will, there would be no wickedness. Free will is not the problem, though. That begs the question: why won’t God do something. Ah. Now we are getting to the heart of the matter. God has the power – obviously. A person who has the power to create this Universe can certainly deal with the wickedness of man. And a person who gave such wondrous things to his human creation – for whom he made this jewel of a planet – certainly cares. That being so, there must be a compelling reason that God has not YET done something about it. There is.

I hope this has helped you a bit and I apologize for the length of this post. But your question actually touches on two vital issues: so vital that your question required more than a cursory response. And I didn't even GO into the vital issues.

what is being PERFECT???
Perfect is the definition that we have made.God never asked us to be like this or like that.I mean I dont remember God coming in my dreams or sending me e mails that meenal ur doing this wrong :)
Now u dont tell me that its written somewhere in some holy books or said by ur teachers or parents or relatives that this is right n that is wrong. Are they God????
I dont think so.
God would have never made naughty behaviour or drugs or sex or lies if he wanted us to be perfect.
but he made.
now tat he made both good and bad then why would he love good more than bad, hot more than cold, love more than hatred!!!
by our rules (human ones) God loves every thing he created isn't it???
the reality is that every thing exists coz he waned it to.
coz he is the boss.
but he gave us freedom to choose and bear the consequences.he wants us to experiment and live.He wants us to be free.
Then what kind of a free will it that where ur punished coz u choose one over the other contarsting to the fact that both choices are given by Him???
So to sum up in short - He is just Loving.
No more hardships. You can do anything u want, as much as u want and still HE WILL LOVE U.
and LOVE is his power not HELL.
sorry i forgot to say that what adam n eve did was a blessing not a curse but its too lengthy to explain tat.

God's ways are not mans' ways.

EDIT......Your question can not be answered, because we do not know the mind of God.Everyone who gives you a reason is only guessing. If we knew why God did things we would be on God's level, which is impossible.Quoting from the Bible is not accurate, because there are over 50 versions in English alone and most Christians give different definitions of who God is.

Questions like this leave me with a hard choice:

"Do I just ignore it, or do I copy / paste my answer from the first million times I answered the same question?"

I was tempted to do both before I read the part about God not being as powerful as he says, and my mind just stopped moving for a second... what in the poop does that have to do with your question?

Here goes:
God wanted to give man the gift of free will (not even the angels have this gift). To do so, he needed to make:
1) multiple choices to choose between;
2) motivations to accept or reject certain choices.

If we have the choice to follow him or not, then we demonstrate our love for him by making the choice that pleases him. The angels follow him of course, but they were designed without the choice to do otherwise... it means more to him that we choose him.

That's the free will discussion in 250 words or less (I think). It's more complicated, so don't go throwing more nonsense out, please.

As far as the whole punishment vs. reward approach to God's commandments, it helps me to liken the whole arrangement to parents disciplining their child.

The parents create the child; the child does not ask to be created. Yet, being the spawn of the adults, the child is dependent upon them for sustenance. The child will die without being fed and nurtured. In return, the child naturally bonds with his parents they love one another. Likewise, God loves us, His creation, and rejoices when we show love for Him, too. He is, in essence, our spiritual parent.

When the child is old enough to be self-aware, the parents teach him discipline. He is punished for disobedience and rewarded for obedience. Naturally, a good parent punishes out of love, in order to teach the child morals and responsibility.

The Bible teaches that God disciplines us as well. Hebrews 12.5-6 says, "...My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves..."

If you are truly serious about searching for answers, keep reading this passage in Hebrews. I feel it gives a beginning reader great insight into God's love for us. You see, God tries to teach us right from wrong through the Bible, so that we may one day rejoin him in heaven.

If you are still skeptical, you can continue with the parent-child analogy. When the child reaches adolescense, he typically becomes resentful toward his parents and thinks he knows best how to live, believes they're old-fashioned, and that he's more in tune with how the world works nowadays.

Those who, for whatever reason, become bitter with God display similar behavior. They lash out against religion and believe they are wiser than God and His followers. Any time I've ever known a person to seriously sit down and study the Bible objectively, though, he has always come away with a profound belief in Him.

God did make Adam & Eve perfect. It was a perfect world. God loved what He had created and was happy. Until the devil found his way to the garden. He decieved Eve. Also to the Bible tells us that in the end, even the very elect of God will be decieved by the devil. The Bible says that there will be some stand before God and clame they have healed the sick, cast ot devils, all in the name of God, but their works will be in vain. Like the Bible says, narrow is the way to righteousness. But wide is the way to destruction.

Why would you blame what Adam did on God?
If you deal your son a bad blow of any kind, should he blame God?

After Adam did what he did, why didn't God wipe it out and start over?

If he did, you and none of us would be here, we are not directly created souls as Adam was, we are born souls, born from a soul that was dying as he
disconnected himself from his life source and our life source. 1Cor.15:22-28;

We are assured salvation? What is that? The same thing Adam had, here we die because of him, after salvation by resurrection Psm.104:29,30; we
either help our self to eternal life by staying connected to our life source or we experience the second and final death with only self to blame.
Rev.20:1-6,12,13 [ Jesus resurrection Acts 2:27-35 ]; Rev.21:1-5; All is made as new as before Eden. Rev.21:8 [ second death ]; Rev.20:7-10; no Satan or any like him after 1000 years.

God created us to make good and bad choices because God gave us freedom. He knew that by giving us the freedom of choice, that the world would become chaotic and people will choose not to believe in Him. but if God were to not give us the freedom of choice, then we wouldnt be able to love (God or anyone else). with giving us freedom, God gives us the ability to truly love.

God is not a lier. I believe God to be all Powerful, The beginning and end to all things.

Lets say that you really liked this girl, fell head over heals for her, but she didn't want anything to do with you. I mean you kept trying, talking to her, doing things for her, but she just would not like you, and you couldn't figure out what you were doing wrong. Why won't she like me? (example only) Then you find out that you can make her like you, weather she wants to or not. So you order it done, now you have her, Right! The girl of your dreams, but there is still one problem, she doesn't care for you, never will, regardless of how she acts you know and can feel in your heart, that she just don't care, and of course you are very hurt, but finally decide to release her from you and let her live her own life.

Nobody wants someone to Love them if they have to make them, then its really not true Love, is it? . Well thats why God gave man free will, He only wants to be Loved by his Children because they chose to and for no other reason. He wants us to behave and follow his teachings, but free will pertains to all of our decisions, good or bad.
I don't know if I gave a very good example, but I hope it helps explain it to you.

He did, actually. We choose to go a different path that makes us imperfect. But He, being a loving and caring Heavenly Father, knew this would happen, so He had to send His only Son to help us return to a perfect state again. It isn't easy, but it is possible through Christ.

It is all up to us, and each one can be what we really want to be.
