ive noticed there are a few. but what are they called??

1.) one is almost black with an almost bluish color. ive seen alot of prison ink like this.

2.) another is black but it has an almost bronze/rusty tint to it. i see it alot for angel wings on peoples backs.

3.) and the 3rd is black with an almost greenish/ "stone" looking color. its looks good on gargoyle tattoos cause it looks like it brings out a rock like look to it.

but once again what is each type of black ink called?

While there are hundreds of brands of tattoo inks, even down to those who mix their own, there are only so many powders/inks from which to mix with.

You cannot go by what you see as the tattoo itself - especially without knowing how old the tattoo is.

Black often has blue added to it for jetness so when it fades, it turns more blue since blue is so strong.

The "bronze" color you see is when the tattoo is worked with a gray wash - it is so light that it appears brownish because of the redness of the skin behind this very transparent shaded tattoo before it heals.

Greenish in a black tattoo is another faded form of black - subject matter has nothing much to do with it.

There are many inks used from pelican to talons india inks to the beautiful concentrated shading inks like sumi.

The tattooed person's natural skin tone can affect how black is perceived in the skin. On someone with dark skin it can appear more grayish looking.

How a tattoo is cared for is the most influencing factor on how blacks fade and appear in the skin.
